The Texas Women's Basketball team defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 79-30, in the sixth ever meeting between the schools. With the win, the Longhorns improved to a perfect 6-0 in the series and begin the season 5-0 for the first time since 2008-09.

Sophomore forward Nneka Enemkpali registered her fifth straight double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds to tie Tiffany Jackson's 2006 school record. She also posted a career-high four assists.

Freshman center Imani McGee-Stafford, who earned her second double-double this season, tallied a career-high 11 rebounds, as well as a career-high 20 total points, which was the most from any Longhorn in today's outing.

Senior post Cokie Reed and junior guard Chelsea Bass also reached double figures for the Longhorns. Reed, who put away a season-high 16 total points in the game, hit her previous season-high of 14 by the end of the first half. Bass appeared in the first game of her junior season and scored 11 points in only eight minutes on the floor.

The Horns' first half defense was smothering and the Islanders did not score their first field goal until the 11:18 mark of the first half. TAMU-CC's nine total first half points (3-of-31, .097) tied the UT school record for fewest points allowed in a half by an opponent, a feat that has been accomplished twice by the Longhorns, most recently in the second half against Texas State on Dec. 3, 2003.

TAMU-Corpus Christi's 30 total points in the game were the fewest allowed by a Longhorn squad since Nov. 30, 2006 against Southern University.

The Longhorns outrebounded the Islanders 58-35 and dominated points in the paint 46-8. The Horns did not allow any TAMU-CC second-chance or fast-break points.

Janae Blount played all 40 minutes and led the Islanders with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Up next, the Horns travel to Houston for the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Showcase where they will take on UCLA on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tipoff is set for 1:30pm CT at Reliant Stadium.
