EMS Captain laid to rest in Fredericksburg

Inside the First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, co-workers, friends and family lined up to say goodbye to 46-year-old Randy Trinkle.
Earlier Thursday, a memorial procession left South Austin, traveling the same 290 west route where Trinkle was killed Saturday evening.
Trinkle was a training Captain in the Special Operations Unit. The veteran first responder also helped groom cadets.
District Commander Wesley Hopkins said Trinkle was one of the best individuals to ever don the Austin-Travis County EMS uniform.
"Randy is one of those teachers that is unafraid to tell you everything that he knows,” Hopkins said. “He's not afraid to hold back so all the knowledge he's got, he will instill in you and he did a really good job with that."
After the funeral, loved ones gathered to witness Trinkle take his final ride in Rescue Vehicle 17.
While Trinkle is escorted to his final resting place, the legacy of the public servants mission lives on, with those he trained now paying respect to a life lost.
"We have to work really hard to live up to his standard,” Special Operations Cpt. Craig Smith said. “We've got a lot of work to do. None of us are finished. We weren't finished with Randy, he wasn't finished with us."
An Austin Paramedic Relief Fund has been established in Trinkle's honor to benefit his children.
