You know it’s really the holiday season in Austin when doors open on the half-eclectic shopping experience, half-music festival that is the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.

The event kicked off its 37th year today. It's at the Palmer Events Center and runs through Christmas Eve. You can expect to see everything from handmade soaps to woodwork to metal art.

One-hundred-sixty artists from around the country will have their work for sale. YNN spoke to one artist from Oregon who says the energy of the event brings him back every year.

"This is the sixth year me and my wife share a booth,” artist Yoshi Aoki said. “Austin is very much like Portland, where I'm from, so we feel right at home."
