No gunmen found at Barton Creek Square Mall
No gunmen were found inside Barton Creek Square Mall Tuesday after Austin police say a woman called Nordstrom and said she saw several males entering the department store with guns.
The call came into the retailer at 11:34 a.m., at which time an employee with Nordstrom immediately called police, who arrived within one minute.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the mall and found no threat. Some stores were closed while police secured the area, but the mall itself was never on lock down. Police will maintain a small presence in the area as the day continues.
There is a heightened sense of security due to Friday’s elementary school shooting in Connecticut, and APD encourages anyone to report if they see anything suspicious.
