Motorcyclist killed in South Austin crash
A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in South Austin Wednesday night.

Police say the motorcyclist ran a red light at Ben White Boulevard and South First Street just after 11 p.m., crashing his 2011 Harley Davidson into the side of a Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu then crashed into a van which fled from the scene.

The motorcyclist was transported by emergency crews to University Medical Center Brackenridge and was pronounced dead, police said.

The passenger in the Malibu was also taken to a hospital, but suffered only minor injuries.

Austin police are asking anyone with information to call (512) 974-5232.

According to police, this is Austin’s 77th traffic fatality of 2012. At this time in 2011, there were 51 traffic fatalities.
