Man arrested in connection with Dripping Springs house fire

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say is connected to a Dripping Springs house fire in which a body was found.

According the Hays County Sheriff’s Office documents, Joseph Alan Carnahan, a 55-year-old Austin resident, was arrested on December 29. Carnahan has been charged with arson and two counts of criminal negligence and endangerment of a child.

Sgt. Taylor with the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said Carnahan’s arrest was made in connection to the fire.

The body was found in the house while fire crews extinguished the blaze on the morning of Dec. 16. Investigators have not yet released a name.

On Dec. 21, Sgt. Taylor said the cause of death is still being determined and that the suspicious nature of the death is still under investigation.

The Texas Rangers and the Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
