An overnight SWAT situation in South Austin has ended without injury.

Officials say it happened at The Heights on Congress apartments around 10:30 p.m. when a neighbor told police a shot was fired into his apartment.

Seven units were evacuated as SWAT and negotiators tried to make contact with the female suspect.

South Congress was also blocked off in both directions. Officials say they had to operate with caution because they weren't sure what was in the apartment.

“We don't know exactly what happened inside the apartment. We did get the 911 call that shots were fired, so we have to go off that,” Anthony Hipolito with the Austin Police Department said. “Anytime there is a firearm involved, the safety of our officers and the residents inside the apartment are paramount. We have to take every precaution necessary to make sure everybody stays safe."

Police say the woman came out of the apartment around 2 a.m. She was taken in for an evaluation, but no charges have been filed at this time.
