Being an intern can be an intimidating experience, especially if you are working inside the Texas State Capitol.

Saturday, working professionals in the world of politics gave advice to those about to start their political journey.

The Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas and the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life hosted a day of non-partisan training for new interns.

The daylong seminar covers everything from how the legislative process works to professional office behavior.

"I want them to have a very clear view of what is expected of them, what they can accomplish, what the challenges are both practically and ethically," Texas Politics Project Director James Henson said.

A part of the conference is also dedicated to ethics.
