A group of San Marcos community leaders launched a new marketing effort Monday.
The goal of the “Making the Grade” program is to boast about the successes students and teachers have in the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School district.
Organizers say publicizing the district's strengths makes good business sense.
"When you have a great school district and people are aware of it and know about it, it really does attract the talent you want and it helps to retain that talent in the community,” Amy Madison with the Greater San Marcos Partnership said.
District leaders say challenges that schools have overcome in the past continue to hurt the district's reputation.
The "Making the Grade" effort is a community-based response. Business leaders hope to spread the message of how San Marcos schools are succeeding.
