IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference announced Monday the selection of Texas freshman center Imani McGee-Stafford as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week. The voting was conducted by a panel of media covering Big 12 women’s basketball.
The honor is the second for McGee-Stafford and the fourth weekly honor for a Longhorn this season. Sophomore forward Nneka Enempkali was tabbed Player of the Week on Nov. 12 and Nov. 26.
McGee-Stafford averaged 13 points and 9.5 rebounds in Texas’s loss at Kansas and win over K-State last week. She shot .524 (11-of-21) from the field and .571 (4-of-7) from the free-throw line while contributing three assists, two blocks and a steal. McGee-Stafford recorded 20 points and 16 rebounds against K-State, her first double-double since Jan. 5 and seventh of the season.
McGee-Stafford and the Longhorns return to action Saturday morning at TCU (11:30 a.m. CT, FSN).
