Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said there was a slight drop in the big time money this year—venture-backed companies dropped 8 percent in 2012 compared to 2011.

It’s a figure that was consistent nationwide, but the Capital City did not see as much of a drop as other cities in the country.

Pope said expect to see the numbers head back up in 2013, especially as software and mobile device technology continues to boom.
