Police arrested 20-year-old Brelyn Sorrells Wednesday in connection with the stabbing death of Arthur Martinez, also 20, in San Marcos.
San Marcos police were called to a house in the 700 block of Allen Street early Sunday morning for reports of a loud party. Police said Sorrells had attended the party and stabbed Martinez during an altercation.
Martinez was taken to a nearby hospital and died a short time later.
Police said Sorrells was arrested without incident around 5 p.m. after being interviewed by police.
In the 2010 season, Sorrells played for the Bowie High School Bulldogs football team as running back.
The 20-year-old has been charged with murder, a first degree felony, and is in custody at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center under a $750,000 bond.
