One dead in NW Austin four-plex fire
A fire in Northwest Austin killed one person and injured another Friday afternoon.
Crews were called to a fire at a four-plex along the 11800 block of Alpheus Drive, just north of Duval Road between MoPac and U.S. Highway 183.
A spokesperson for the Austin Fire Department said that the body of a fire victim was found during an “aggressive search in heavy fire conditions.”
Another victim was treated by emergency crews at the scene. The fire has been extinguished.
It's the second fatal fire in less than 24 hours. An elderly woman died in a house fire, also in northwest Austin, Thursday evening.
