A unique romantic tradition was celebrated in Waco this Valentine’s Day.

In a tradition started by his predecessor, Justice of the Peace W.H. "Pete" Peterson conducted a group wedding on the McLennan County Courthouse steps.

"Today is Valentine's Day and Cupid is very hard at work,” Peterson said. “We're just trying to help out."

Victoria and Cleo Kirkland was just one of the couples to be married Thursday.

"We've been engaged for about five years so it's finally time to tie the knot,” Cleo said.

Since the tradition began in 1999, officials have lost count of exactly how many people have been married in the Valentine's Day group ceremony.
