A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department said officers were called to the Runnymede apartment complex on Rutland Drive just after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Upon arrival, officers found two women with injuries. Both were transported to the hospital, where one died a short time later from stab wounds.

Investigators have ruled the incident a suspicious death for now.

"The investigation is still pending, and there's no charges pending at this current time,” Cpl. David Boyd said.

Police say it appeared the two roommates were in a fight. There's no word on the condition of the second roommate.
