Business Now: Some retailers skid bag ban, for now

It’s coming—starting on March 1, plastic bags will be banned in the Capital City.

Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said while most consumers will have to bring their own bags to area stores, some have been granted exemptions.

For example, H-E-B is allowed to use bags for the next year. A few other businesses will be able to use their supply of plastic bags until it runs out.

Terra Toys in North Austin was also granted an exception. The local business has children decorate each of its bags individually, which will still be allowed.
