Nine-year-old Elijah is a boy of few words, but has a large heart.

It was Elijah’s first time on a horse at Spirit Reins Ranch, but he tackled the challenge head on. The animals at the ranch helped Elijah come out of his shell.

"He is very curious. He asks lots of really good questions about how the world works, and has come a long way in terms of managing and navigating the world," Grace Lindgren, Adoption Coalition of Texas recruiter, said.

The nine-year-old loves anything mechanical, from cars and trucks to planes. He also loves school.

He's had to move around a lot in foster care, but the longer he's in one home, the more he learns and grows.

"He's great with animals, he's learned a lot. Just in the progress we've seen with some stability, it can only go that much further when he's in a home he'll never leave," Lindgren said. "He's been in foster care since he was three. He's moved a lot, and in the placements he's been able to be stable in the longest, he's come completely out of his shell."
