Thousands of volunteers got to work on Saturday to keep Austin’s parks in top shape.
The city-wide effort was part of It’s My Park Day, the Austin Parks Foundation’s largest volunteer event each year.
Some of the projects included spreading mulch, painting and clearing trails.
At Dove Springs Park in Southeast Austin, volunteers helped to fill holes and level the soccer fields.
"The soccer program is on hold because the field is so unlevel,” volunteer Ofelia Zapata said. “We're going to work on that so we can get our 300 kids who are interested in playing to play soccer."
Volunteers took part in more than 80 public spaces around Austin.
