A man is in critical condition after he was shot by a Bastrop County sheriff's deputy in Del Valle Wednesday afternoon, according to Bastrop County Sheriff Terry Pickering.
Sheriff Pickering said officers were called to a domestic disturbance at 121 Stony Mont Drive around 4:15 p.m.
Once they arrived, they encountered an older man with a firearm. He refused to disarm and at least one of the officers fired at him. The sheriff would not say how many shots were fired or how many bullets struck the man.
No officer was injured.
Neighbors at the scene said the man was in a wheelchair, but the sheriff's department did not confirm that.
The sheriff's department and Texas Rangers are involved in the investigation.
Few other details are available at this time, but we will keep this story updated with the latest.
This is the second officer-involved shooting in the Austin area this month.
