Police search for suspect in East Austin sexual assault
Austin police are investigating a sexual assault in East Austin that happened at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

According to a statement issued by police, the woman was riding her bike in the 1900 block of College Row when she saw a man exit a white extended cab pick-up truck. He forced her into the back seat where she was sexually assaulted. A second man was in the driver’s seat.

The woman was later able to escape. She flagged down a patrol officer near East 12th Street and North I-35.

Police issued the following description for the suspect: A black male, 6 feet tall, 280 pounds, muscular build, short hair, no facial hair, wearing diamond stud earrings in both ears and gold upper front teeth. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a design or print on the front and oversized dark colored jeans.

The driver was described only as possibly a light-skinned Hispanic man.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Sex Crimes Unit at 974-5095 or 512-472-TIPS, or text “Tip 103” and your message to CRIMES. You may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 if your tips leads to an arrest of charges being filed.
