This year’s South by Southwest has come and gone but remnants of the festivities can still be found around Austin.
The architecture firm Gensler installed a piece of art outside of the W Hotel asking visitors to pitch their ideas on how Austin could be improved.
About a hundred people responded via Twitter suggesting better sidewalks, streets and carpool lanes.
"Mass transit, traffic, congestion issues, a lot of the ideas that have been proposed have been practical and things that could be implemented,” Andy Waddle with Gensler said. “Some of them have been more imaginative."
Once Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell heard what the project was all about, he said he would check out what people had to say.
"I'm going to try and get over there,” Leffingwell said. “It's very interesting. It might be a great benefit to us to hear what folks outside this building are thinking."
There may be other opportunities in the future too.
“We've considered approaching the city about leveraging this type of installation as something they could use to solicit public input," Waddle said.
It took Gensler 48 hours to put up the display and they plan to keep it up as long as they can.
