The Texas basketball team will have to hope Houston is a bit kinder to it than it was to the UT baseball team Tuesday night. The Horns on the diamond lost to the Cougs 4-3. It was their third loss in four games. And the news got worse Wednesday as Texas announced ace Parker French will not pitch this weekend in Minnesota because of lingering discomfort in his elbow.

Pitching has actually been the least of the Horns worries. Struggles at the plate continuned against Houston Tuesday. All of UT's runs were unearned and came in one inning. They had a total of only 7 hits. Texas is trying some things to change its luck. Hitting coach Tommy Nicholson is now in the dugout to help the hitters rather than coaching third. And Texas is ringing a bell like a boxer before each at bat to signify that it is time to fight at the plate.
