Cooke family reaching out to others
Rachel Cooke's parents are reaching out to others in a similar situation.
Cooke, 19, disappeared months ago, and while the search continues, her parents want others to know how to handle looking for a missing loved one.
Saturday, they announced they're working with several groups to establish a Rachel Alert Network system that would go into effect for any missing person within the first 48 hours.
The family is working in conjunction with People Against Violent Crimes and Forums For Justice.org to help bring attention to victims regardless of their age.
"Should people find themselves in this situation they do need to know that there are people out there that do care," said Janet Cooke, Rachel's mother. "And this community, this area, we care enough to fight for what we believe in, and yes, the fight is on."
The Cooke family plans to have the Rachel Alert Network Web site running within a month.
