Cooke family goes to Washington
The family of missing teen Rachel Cooke is keeping the search for their daughter alive – along with the issue of missing children.
The Cookes will visit the White House on Wednesday for the Conference on Missing and Exploited Children.
Hosted by President Bush, the one-day conference will focus on prevention of child victimization and effective law enforcement policies for handling crimes against children.
Rachel Cooke, 19, disappeared from her Georgetown home in January.
The parents of an Abilene baby kidnapped from a store parking lot will also take part in the conference.
Salvador and Margarita Chavez's baby, Nancy, was abducted from a Wal-Mart parking lot in August.
The month-old infant was found unharmed a day later in Quanah, and an Abilene woman was charged with aggravated kidnapping.
