Run-walk for Cooke fund

By: News 8 Austin Staff

Rachel Cooke has been missing for more than two years now. She was jogging near her Georgetown home when she disappeared. Her family will be holding their second annual "Run for Rachel," which supports the families of missing persons.

The run will be 8 a.m. Saturday in Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. For more information, visit rachelcookesearch.org/run.

News 8 Austin’s Paul Brown spoke with Rachel’s father, Robert Cooke about the event.

Q: Your daughter was a competitive and accomplished cross-country runner. How does this run honor her?

A: Well, as you know, Rachel disappeared while she was jogging. She ran up to three times a year at this one track [in Old Settlers Park].

Q: Your daughter, Rachel, has been missing for over two years. What other things can people do to help?

A: The community support has been fantastic throughout this whole ordeal. They’ve really been our crutch and helped us because this is a parent’s worst nightmare.
