Fox visits Mexican consulate
Mexican President Vicente Fox made a quick stop Thursday morning at the new Mexican Consulate on Eighth and Brazos Streets in downtown Austin.
Hundreds of people surrounded the building to catch a glimpse of Pres. Fox cut the welcoming ribbon on the larger facility. But security was tight.
Traffic on Brazos was backed up for about 30 minutes. Fox had a quick tour of the building, and met with local and state dignitaries at the reception.
Many spectators outside braved the chilly weather to see Fox walk in the building.

"I'm excited just to see him here in Austin, Texas. Be so close. I'm hoping he'll do good for Mexico," said Peggy Porras, a spectator.
One lucky woman also got a personal greeting from Fox -- a kiss from the Mexican President. The crowd at the site cheered his spontaneity.
