About half of the Guadalupe River above New Braunfels was reopened for recreational uses Friday.
All of the river had been closed to tubers, kayakers and other water enthusiasts since heavy rains produced flooding earlier this week.
On Friday afternoon the Comal County Judge approved access to the river from Canyon Dam down to a spot just above the second crossing bridge.
Lower stretches of the river remain closed as authorities continue to test the water quality.
More than one foot of rain fell in parts of Comal County Wednesday. Riverside businesses in the Gruene area were hard hit by the flooding.
Rockin' R River Rides lost 90 percent of their tubes at one of their New Braunfels locations, along with most of their vehicles. Owners said they will be ready for weekend tourists.
