Volunteers needed to clean up flood-affected parks in New Braunfels

By: Associated Press

Flood recovery continues after heavy rain and storms hit the New Braunfels area less than two weeks before the start of summer and the busy river tubing season. (Story continues below slideshow.)

New Braunfels City Manager Mike Morrison said volunteers are needed to help clean flood-affected city parks.

The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority and the Army Corps of Engineers agreed to cut river flows during cleanup, Morrison told the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung.

Comal County authorities say River Road is now open. The road was closed along the Guadalupe River when the flood waters hit on June 9.

New Braunfels announced they will open the Guadalupe River and the Comal River within the city limits the weekend of June 25.
