The
Drive Clean Across Texas summer clean-air campaign kicked off last week.
During the campaign, the Texas Department of Transportation is urging drivers to take “five easy steps” to keep Central Texas air clean.
"The Drive Clean Across Texas campaign is year round, but we focus most of our attention during the summer months when we have the problem of ground-level ozone forming in urban areas," Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Richard Goldsmith said.
The five step program:
1. Keep your vehicle in top shape
2. Drive less
3. Buy a "cleaner" vehicle
4. Drive the speed limit
5. Reduce idling
The campaign will give one winner a new, 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid donated by the Dallas Cowboys. The sweepstakes runs through Sept. 26.
