When Bubba Conran got the call that flood waters were raging around his popular club, Bubba's Big Deck, he was on his way to Boston.
"You go from having a good time to realizing you have no income at all," he said.
That was June 9. This weekend there was live music in the same location where there had been several feet of water.
"The building itself was standing. That's what matters, considering the water was over the roof," Conran said.
Across the street from Bubba's, Rockin' R was also devastated by flood waters. However, this past weekend, the spot was once again renting tubes and visitors.
"It's a way to hang out, relax, enjoy the water, enjoy the sun," visitor Jason Harris said.
Harris saw the destruction the flood caused on TV, but said the river was back to looking good.
City and county crews, along with volunteers, spent the past two weeks working to clean debris from the river. Where there once were stranded vehicles, tubers are again enjoying the water.
"We normally do it with my family here every week. We try to get down here and try to have a little fun and enjoy," tuber Terence Henry said.
After getting out of the river, Henry said the water was running high and clear. Good news for the tubers and business owners going into a long holiday weekend.
"Everybody's doing the best they can to exist, and we just want our tourists back. This town survives on tourist dollars," Conran said.
Thanks to some hard work, they're open and ready.
