Summer is peak bug season and while some bugs are beneficial, others are not.
Ants, mosquitoes, flies and other pests invade homes and yards every summer. One expert says all the rain will lead to increased activity from fire ants and mosquitoes, in particular.
She offered tips, tricks and products that help to keep bugs out of your yard.
"If you're talking about a yard situation, try to reduce standing water as much as possible. If you have locations where you can't get rid of the water like a pond or a bird bath you can use a mosquito dunk which disrupts the mosquito life cycle," entomologist Wizzie Brown said
For fire ants, she recommends a broadcast bait that the ants will find and take back to their mounds, killing the whole colony.
