Austin Film Society celebrates Texas film

Austin’s most star-studded event is set to take the stage Thursday night.

YNN’s Carla McDonald sat down with Austin Film Society’s Executive Director Rebecca Campbell and Writer, Director and Producer Richard Linklater to find out more about the 12th annual Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards.

Danny Trejo, Robert Rodriguez, Barry Corbin, Douglas McGrath and Meatloaf are just some of the people set to be honored at the event.

Comedian Anjelah Johnson with be emceeing the film awards.

The event raises funds for important initiatives like the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund, which has given out over $1 million to emerging filmmakers.

The film society also serves in seventeen underserved school’s afterschool programs. There, they teach kids how to make movies and express themselves with 21st Century skills.
