Actor John Hawkes delivers one the most accomplished performances of his career in "The Sessions," which opens this Friday in Austin theaters.

Hawkes cut his teeth as an actor and musician in Austin before making it big.

Two years ago he earned his first Oscar nomination for best supporting actor in "Winter's Bone," and with "The Sessions," he's well on his way to another awards run, this time as an uniquely charming leading man. "The Sessions" succeeds as a rare combination of funny and heartwarming adult sex-comedy that centers around a man crippled since childhood.
