After taking in Saturday's qualifying, race fans headed out for some Texas style grub to sink their teeth into.

Crowds of people lining up for barbecue is nothing new at Kreuz Market in Lockhart, But the makeup of the line was slightly different this week.

Erik Holck and his friends are from Colorado. They lined up for food after leaving the Formula 1 qualifying round.

F1 was the reason for the weekend, barbecue was their fuel.

"Four of us went to Indianapolis twice when F1 was there, 2001, 2002,” Holck said. “We're all race fans"

And they're all barbecue fans.

"I love barbecue so being in Texas or Missouri or anywhere in the Midwest where there's good barbecue, that's what I like to eat," he said.

In addition to liking barbecue, Brandon Pierce wants to be a race car driver himself. After seeing the pros Saturday, he wanted to see the course he'll be racing in a kart next year.

"It's going to be on the streets of Lockhart which is the barbecue capital of Texas and it should be really fun," Pierce said.

While the love of smoked meat got them in door, it was racing that brought them to the area.

"I love the style of this track, of course, I've been an F1 fan for years," Hazel Pierce said.

The lone Star Grand Prix Kart race will take place in Lockhart this March.
