While a Thanksgiving feast is a delicious occasion for humans, it is also enticing for a family dog waiting patiently under the table for scraps.
It can be tempting to share human food with your four-legged family members, but you don’t want to deal with an upset stomach or trip to the vet.
The owner of Round Rock’s Action Pack Dog Center, Jana Rossorelli, says to avoid feeding your pooch foods that are high in sodium and fat. Raisins, grapes, chocolate and onions should also be off limits. Your dog can eat fresh sweet potatoes, green beans, roasted turkey and pumpkin.
"There's canned pumpkin which is fantastic, 100 percent pumpkin, and then there's pumpkin pie filling,” Rossorelli said. “The pumpkin pie filling already has a lot of sugar and preservatives in there that you don't want. So you want the 100 percent canned pumpkin."
