It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Austin.

The State Capitol’s Christmas tree arrived Tuesday afternoon from Denison. The president of the Christmas Tree Growers Association traditionally brings in the tree. Lawmakers will decorate the tree with ornaments representing their districts.

This is the second year in a row the House tree has come from Denison. In the past trees have come from the Bastrop area, but the search had to be expanded after last year's wildfire.

Families in the Mueller neighborhood also welcomed in the holiday season. Last night marked the 51st year of the lighting of the Mueller Tower.

The tradition dates back to 1961, when it served as the control tower for the Robert Mueller Airport.

This is the seventh year the tower has been lit as part of the Mueller development. The airport officially closed in 1999 to make way for homes and businesses.
