So the US Grand Prix has come and gone, but it’s already time to prepare for the big race next year.
Officials with the Circuit of the Americas are lobbying for Formula 1 organizers to change the 2013 date because as it stands, race weekend will coincide with the Longhorns’ big home game against Oklahoma State.
Colin Pope with the Austin Business Journal said 100,000 people will be here for the UT game alone. That number, combined with the race fans in town for the Grand Prix, could pose a real problem for the city.
As for the businesses in town, Pope says many will ramp things up for next year after seeing the success of this year’s race.
