Over the next two years, we get three new Hobbit movies, the first of which is new in theaters this Friday and gives the series a spectacular start.

There are multiple formats you can see the movie in, including a new option called HFR (high frame rate) 3D.

No matter which version you see, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" offers a warm familiarity from the work of J.R.R. Tolkien and a grand sense of cinematic adventure that doesn't disappoint.
