One of the three men shot outside of a Killeen convenience store last week died while being treated at Scott and White Memorial Hospital.

Police say 25-year-old Spc. Austin James Sampson was airlifted to Scott and White in critical condition after he and two others were shot in a car outside of the Star Mart on FM 440 on Jan. 2.

According to a Fort Hood spokesperson, Sampson died on Jan. 4.

The other two victims were taken by ambulance to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on the Army post.

Sampson was originally from upstate New York and had been stationed out of Fort Hood since 2006.

Witnesses say they saw the gunman leave the scene in a white Lincoln Towncar.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS. Tips which lead to an arrest are eligible for a $1,000 reward.
