A 95-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a truck which was rolling backwards, according to police.A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department said a gray 2002 Dodge pickup parked in front of a store along West William Cannon Drive began to roll backwards for unknown reasons. Ramon Samilpa, 95, fell and was struck by the front wheel of the truck.
Samilpa was pronounced dead at the scene.
This was Austin’s fourth traffic death of 2013. At this time last year, there were two traffic deaths.
