Anchor
Amy Hadley is a familiar face on YNN. She was a reporter here from 2003-2008. In 2013 she returned as dayside anchor.
Amy is from all over the Midwest, claiming nowhere in particular as home, but having lived in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas. She graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
She arrived in Austin fresh-faced right after graduation, and got her first job as Reporter In-Training at then News 8 Austin. She became a popular fixture in the community as the morning live reporter, helping Central Texans wake up every morning. She was voted “Best TV Reporter” and “Best Roving Reporter” by The Austin Chronicle in 2007 and 2008.
In her popular weekly feature, "Fit for Friday," Amy tried everything from barrel racing to flying trapeze – sometimes elegantly and sometimes not. Amy also started an award-winning weekly segment, Forever Families, featuring area foster children available for adoption. Sixty-five percent of the children profiled in the segment were adopted, and Amy still keeps in touch with several families that adopted children she featured.
Amy caught the travel bug along the way, and so did her husband. With a sense of adventure and little else, the two packed up and headed east. They lived in Prague, Czech Republic, for two years, working, traveling, and making the most of expat life.
As soon as Amy moved back to Austin, she picked up where she left off with YNN. She’s thrilled to be part of a stellar news team in a city she adores.
