The Save Muny Run for the Green 5K is right around the corner.

Participants will get to run through some of the oldest oak trees in Austin on one of Texas' most historical golf courses, the Lions Municipal Golf Course. The race begins 8 a.m. Sunday, March 3.

The event aims to raise awareness about what the city has to offer, said Steve Weiner, one of the leaders of the Save Muny effort. The course is in danger of being shut down to make room for retail space and apartment complexes.
