A Few Clouds Overnight

Monday was mostly cloudy and cool with a few spotty showers during the late afternoon and evening. High temperatures were warmer than Sunday but still quite cool throughout the day, upper 40s and low 50s. That's about 10 degrees below normal.

Expect the clouds to clear out Monday night as a disturbance pushes into east Texas. Overnight lows will be chilly, dropping into the upper 30s and low 40s. The good news is that the winds will remain light, 3 - 8 mph. Tuesday will be more pleasant with partly cloudy skies, southerly winds and temperatures warming up to seasonal average, into the upper 50s and low 60s.

A weak, dry cold front will arrive on Tuesday night, giving us a stronger north wind Wednesday and knocking afternoon temps back down to the 50s. Late week a Pacific disturbance will move across Mexico and into South Texas. This will be our best chance (20%) for some rain until a larger storng system approaches early next week. Temperatures will generally run on the cool side for the rest of the week with a slight, gentle warm up this weekend. See all the details on the YNN 8 Day Forecast.
MOON HALOS...

A few moon halos graced skies over the Lone Star State this past weekend as moonshine deflected through high clouds made of ice crystals. Chris Cook snapped the beautiful photo above of such a halo in Cape Cod, MA, this past weekend.
DROUGHT UPDATE...

For the first time since early May 2011, the city of Austin is no longer in the highest/exceptional drought status on the US Drought Monitor. Severe to extreme drought conditions continue in the metro, while exceptional does continue across Bell & Williamson counties and through the Hill Country. It's certainly a step in the right direction.
